There are several volunteer groups that you can sign up with. One of these is the volunteer ambulance service. When you want to join this specific volunteer service, you do not have to become a professional. You can volunteer in ambulance services even if you are not a nurse, a doctor, or engaged in other medical profession. All you need to possess, in order to be a qualified volunteer, is the passion to be of service to other individuals. Signing up for a volunteer service will allow you to acquire training, without having to pay for it. This training will teach you how to help other people in case of emergencies.

Why Join a Volunteer Ambulance Service

Becoming a volunteer or a member of an ambulance service provides you with the most rewarding experience. It gives you satisfaction with the knowledge that you have been able to be of help to other people. There are different reasons why you have to join a volunteer ambulance service. These include the following:

1. You will be able to help out within your community.

2. You will get to learn important skills, which you can apply to your daily life.

3. You will also learn first-aid assistance, CPR, and other basic medical training.

4. You will be able to avail of an allowance program.

5. There is a possibility that you will find your career opportunity within the field of medicine.

The Different Volunteer Membership Types

If you want to become a member or a volunteer of an ambulance service, you are presented with membership choices. As a matter of fact, you can volunteer without having to be a riding member.

Senior Members (Active) They are comprised of the assistance or the driver, and the medical technician. It is stated in the law that an ambulance needs to have a minimum of a Certified EMT-B each time there is a call for emergency help. This certified individual takes charge of emergency calls, right from the start of the call to its end. This responsibility includes operations and patient care. If you are a certified EMT, you are responsible for riding with the ambulances 2nd EMT. When you have not received a certification as an EMT, you can still volunteer in ambulance services. You can just participate in educational programs. When you are a driver, you are held responsible for looking out over the patient and the entire crew. You will be trained thoroughly regarding the operation of the emergency vehicle. This training also includes taking trips to different hospitals. Plus, you will be taught to familiarize local roads. Drivers training includes CPR training and ambulance equipment training.

Junior Members This is a suitable ranking for volunteers under the age of 16 to 17 years old. This is an opportunity presented to high school kids, in order to introduce them to volunteer ambulance service. If you are a teen volunteer, you will get to ride with the older crew of the service. What is more, you will get to attend trainings, seminars, and meetings. As a matter of fact, you can train to become a member of the first responding team or receive certification for CPR training. As you go along, you can rise up to senior membership.

Associate Members You can join ambulance service groups without riding with the emergency team. You can help with fundraisings. You can also answer phone calls; do clerical tasks; and other work.
